Inspiration: Decorating your home for the summer

Hello everyone! It's about the end of school year here and I've been busy with my kids' shows, competitions, and concerts...Although tiresome and hectic at times, both my kids had lots of fun and made memories to last a lifetime with their classmates!

So that's my reason for being so absent from blogging properly these past couple of weeks. With most of the busy days behind us, I'm hoping I'll be hosting you more substantial posts from today onward!

I wanted to share some inspiration and ideas for the coming summer that I think are easily adaptable for any budget. I've always liked incorporating little accesories and making small changes in my home to welcome the new season, and here are some ideas I've gathered for you:

A palette of blue and white is what I like in my summer-inspired home. This is already the major color scheme in my home, but you can get the same feel by adding white accesories like seashells, coral, or a homemade driftwood mirror like the one above. Adding a touch of blue with books, a painting, or even a vase can give you the coastal look instantly. Rustic and weathered furniture, like the cabinet and dresser above, also lend to the beachy-look. Find more inspiration here.

I also believe that changing your wintery pillows for summery ones can change the season in your room instantly. Cotton pillow covers in shades of blue and sand colors gives your room the beachy look without spening too much. Find the pillows at Joss & Main.
Searching for a color palette that suits your taste can also help you to get inspired. I found the seaglass inspired color palette on pinterest, and the shades of blue palette on bhg.com

You can also find several different ways to use the accesories, like seashells, you have already placed across your room. Planted succulents in the large shell  adds the brightness of green to your room, while the smaller seashells decorated with candles can illuminate your home in the evenings. Find more ideas here.

If you're looking to make a major change in your home for the summer, adding rattan furniture definitely does the trick. this outdoor swing from anthropoligie is one of my favorites.
Mixing your current furniture with rattan can also looks very chic in your home. Adding a few accesorries like driftwood, maps of coastal areas, and glass lanterns immediatelt turns your home into the perfect seaside cottage. Find more here.
The rattan used in this kitchen and dining area above also adds a coastal feel to this home. Visit the blog remodelaholic to find out more about this renovated beach home.

Any inspirations you've found lately to welcome summer? I'd love to hear your ideas too!

Have a wonderful day!
