Design: A faux fireplace for your home...

Fireplaces warm up your home. They add a focal point to your room. They not only look pretty, but if you have one of those old woodburning fireplaces, they actually smell nice, too. We had one in the house I grew up in, in upstate NY, where a fireplace is a staple n every house to warm you up during snow storms and icy temperatures. One of the apartments we lived in in DC had one, woodburning, too (which I think was one of the main reasons we decided to rent the place!). So now I always dream of having one, and thought maybe this year I could at least settle for a faux fireplace. And so I started searching the web for that budget friendly and simple DIY that might just get me started on my own fireplace--faux, of course!

My favorite tutorial on how to build a faux fireplace to add interest to your home, below, is this one I found on apartment therapy:

This husband and wife blogger team created a faux fireplace themselves, above, and share the tutorial right here. This tutorial is also very easy to follow and the result is awesome!
So you've built your faux fireplace and aren't sure what to place inside it? Why not use these very organic driftwood candle holders, above, found here.

Too busy to build your own faux fireplace? How about using these multi-candle holders to add the same ambience, but without the labor or breaking the bank:

Have a great day everyone!
