Our visit to Konak, Part Three: The Konak Pier

Happy Friday to everyone!
I thought I'd share with you the last episode of our little trip to Konak, which I've already posted about here and here. As you remember, this part of town is right across the bay, so we take a ferry to get there. Very close to the ferry port is an historical building, the Konak Pier, now a shopping center. What I'm fascinated about is that the structure was designed by Gustav Eiffel and was built by his architectural company back in 1890. Interested? Read more about it here.
Probably the main entrance to the building when it was first built, above.
The interior today. There are many high-end shops, restaurants and cafés to suit every need...We usually visit the bookstore where we can find many English books, American magazines, and best sellers...

I especially loved the solid wood doors with the wrought iron crown, and so did my kids, posing in front of them!

I hope to share more about the city I live in in the upcoming months, with plenty of pictures and interesting facts...

Enjoy your day!
