A little Sunday happiness...

Hello there!

Had a great start today at a favorite spot that serves brunch on Sundays...And the weather was so nice that we dined al fresco!

Today "a little Sunday happiness" is hidden in some artwork....

For some time now I've been searching for the right kind of art to paint for my daughter's future bedroom, and while looking through some Alphonse Mucha pictures I got really inspired and started one yesterday afternoon.

The pencil drawing on canvas is pretty faint, sorry, but you can still make out some of the details and markings. I am using acrylic paint because A. I don't have a studio, and oil can be pretty smelly and messy, B. It's easy to use, and C. It dries quicker.

I always start with painting the flesh and work to the face and then the background. The eyes are usaully the hardest part for me, so I tend to paint it in steps. I waited to paint in the iris so the white paint I used for the eyeballs would dry. In the meantime I added some background colors for the flowers I intend to paint in. The flowers will continue up the left of the picture about parallel to the figure's eyebrows.

And here is how I left it until I can sit down to work on it again. I need to really work on the eyes and hair, and make the background blend in better.

How do you like the painting so far? Any suggestions? Any questions? Let me know!

Enjoy your Sunday!
