Hello lovely readers!
From the looks of the clouds outside no one would have ever guessed that Spring is in full bloom all around here in Turkey.
My husband brought back a ridiculous amount of fresh thyme he bought from a street vendor in our neighborhood...
...and the seller threw in some camomille to the bunch...So pretty!
I removed the herbs off their stems to use as fresh thyme in dishes. I'll be keeping these in the fridge. I'll also be using the stems as skewers for dainty kebabs...I'll be drying the rest in my balcony to use later on...
The wonderful smell of fresh thyme filled the kitchen..I wish you could have smelled it too!
Some fresh lemons picked straight off the tree not far from our home, received as a gift from one of his students...Again, the smell of these lemons were intoxicating!
Let's move on to the living room, shall we?
Not long ago I purchased some pillowcases that I found at the local farmer's market. Those of you who visit often already know that the farmer's market here isn't just a small parking lot with a dozen vendors. No, it's a huge area (don't know for sure how huge, but after 2 hours, you've only seen 1/4 of it) and they not only sell produce, but also cheese, nuts, and fish, and half of the market is dedicated to clothing and home goods and textiles. I always find something I like from one of my favorite vendors who sews pillow cases, tablecloths, curtains, and runners out of fabric remnants he buys by the kilo and sells them at an unbelievably reasonable price.
[Don't know about the farmer's market where I live? Then go here...]
I immediately singled these out of probably 50 other patterns...They just really add a lot of modern/Scandinavian sophistication to the sofas and chairs I think...Also the colors are absolutely beautiful and go with everything else in the room. They were a buck and a half each. Love it!
The tablecloth my husband found is a clarke and clarke fabric made in England...Normally £16 a meter online, I only paid 10 TL, which is about $4. Not bad, right?
Here's what they did with the same fabric, from the company's website:
And last but not least, my daughter looked so cozy sitting on the sofa and having some fun on her tablet that I couldn't resist taking a picture...She must be concentrating pretty hard on the game she's playing, don't you think?
So that was a quiet and peaceful Saturday afternoon in our neck of the woods...
How is your weekend going so far?
Enjoy!
